Fishing in unfamiliar grounds can be daunting, particularly where, like the eastern Solent, the area abounds with harbours, bays, busy shipping lanes and hordes of yachts. But this is a great area for fishing - there are marks from where you can catch fish within a few hundred metres of the shore, to famous marks like the Overfalls, mid Channel wrecks and the Nab Tower.
