Southsea Marina Angling Cub (SMAC) is based as the name suggests in Premier’s Southsea Marina. The club is an active community of like-minded anglers who love boat fishing, friendly competitions, socials, chat and marine conservation. We encourage Juniors and Ladies to join in the fun too.

Club Membership

Membership is open to all Southsea Marina Berth holders and their crews, which means if you regularly fish on a boat berthed in the marina you can also join. The annual membership fee is a modest £20 for adults  and there is a discounted fee for Juniors under 15 years of age. The club is affiliated to the  Angling Trust which provides certificates for specimen fish caught.

Club Activities

Membership includes our annual Awards Night and our Summer BBQ. We run club competitions, open competitions and pools which have a small entry fee. There is a free monthly Fish of the Month competition and there are a number of annual prizes included in the membership fee.

We are very fortunate to enjoy the support of Premier Marinas who provide our storage shed, fish cleaning/weigh station and club noticeboard. This is a very angler-friendly marina and is one of the few that stocks frozen bait for sale from the marina office. Our competitions are also supported by many local businesses so our competitions often have a very impressive prize table.

The Marina Bar also kindly hosts our monthly club meetings, often staying open to serve us drink and hot food in the colder months when most leisure boaters have long since gone home. We are very aware that the sea can be a dangerous place, so our fundraising activities are usually centred around the RNLI and local independent rescue stations such as GAFIRS. Here we have presented a cheque to a representative from GAFIRS based in Stokes Bay at one of our monthly club meetings.

We have a Facebook page which you can visit here.
