Somebody needs to phone Portsmouth FC and ask them not to put Home fixtures on the first Tuesday of a month. Despite the traffic gridlock six members supported the monthly meeting, which was probably only just enough for the Marina Bar to justify staying open for us! Thank you anyway, guys.

Club Competition Standings have only changed since last circulated as much as Peter Churchill adding one new species in the Species Hunt, which is a bit of a sorry indicator of the quality of fishing during October. To add to that, we only had three fish in the book for Fish of the Month. Dave Newnham’s turbot, 14%; Dan Lumsden’s plaice at 23.3% which made Peter Churchill’s Buss Huss at 65.1% appear massive. Well done Pete!

By the way, the Specimen Fish are now listed on the Club Standings.

Treasurer’s report was short and sweet, the bank balance only changed by the £10 FOTM prize so now stands at £1,411.66. This is to cover the Presentation Night costs and the annual cups and prizes into the 2027 season.

The Open Cod Competition planning for Sunday 29th October is on track. More prizes have been secured so we only have a few more to chase down. All we need now is good weather and some cod and whiting. None of those seem to be showing up just yet!

Presentation Night is planned for Saturday 13th March so that’s a date for your diaries. Hopefully we can get plenty of members, partners and families along. More details to follow nearer the time.

As a side note, Hannah from Premier Southsea has been making Unisex Poppies for RBL fundraising. There is still time to buy one and help fill the donations jar! They are very cute.

Next Meeting is on Tuesday 1st December, 6pm at the Marina Bar. Portsmouth are not playing at home!
